A few months ago I was approached by a member of a group that designed a website to help reduce my debt. He wanted me to participate in the Beta testing. DebtGoal.com.
At the time I was not working on reducing my debt and was actually adding to it by helping my family! Also, I didnt have the time to put into it with my family and work obligations.
I happy to say that I setup my debts on their website and I’m very pleased with how it works. Basically, you enter your debts with the interest rates, balances, etc… and it tells you which ones to snowball and how much.
So, it told me to add another $11 to my credit card with the highest interest rate and leave the others alone. Very much like a snowball but with a purpose. It’s also very realistic. I know that I cannot make HUGE payments at first and I must get out of that mentality.
Anyway, it does say that with this paydown schedule I will be debt free in about 6 years but that is with making the minimums and on this particular schedule. It does take in account the fact that I’ll be paying off the higher interest rate first.
Hopefully, I can accelerate that date!
Anyway,
